Orbbec Astra vs. Astra Pro

Why does LUMOplay recommend the Orbbec Astra and not the Astra Pro?

The difference between Orbbec Astra and Astra Pro is that the Pro has a higher resolution camera feed and requires the use of Astra's SDK. This camera is more complex, and can be prone to a higher failure rate in long term installations.

While we can and do develop custom experiences for this camera (in particular, AR experiences that require the higher resolution RGB feed), we do not provide ongoing updates or support for it in the general LUMOplay platform, because it's a lot of extra work and none of the apps in our market use the additional features of this camera.

If you have a custom project that requires the extra RGB resolution, and you want to commission a custom app that will include support for it, this is possible. Simply mention that you want to use the Orbbec Astra Pro when you place your custom order.
