Have you ever wanted to make your interactive floor or wall reflect your brand’s personality? Whether you’re creating an installation for a school, museum, or business, customizing LUMOplay with your logo is a simple and powerful way to make your space stand out.
In this tutorial, you’ll learn three different ways to add your logo or brand to any LUMOplay effect — using tools built right into the software.
💡 What You’ll Need
Before we get started, make sure you have:
A computer that meets LUMOplay’s system requirements
The LUMOplay software (you can start for free!)
If you’re creating custom branded apps, you’ll need a paid Playmaker license, which allows you to publish unlimited custom apps.
🖥️ Step 1: Set Up Your Design Environment
Before designing your first branded effect:
-
Match your design resolution and aspect ratio to your final installation setup.
If your projector is 1080p, design in 1080p, not 4K.
Make sure your aspect ratio (e.g., 16:9 or 16:10) is the same on both systems.
On Windows, right-click your desktop → Display Settings → check your resolution and aspect ratio.
This step ensures your final projection looks exactly as intended.
🌟 Method 1: Use the “Particle Image” Template
This method creates a dynamic, animated logo using floating particles. Perfect for eye-catching branding effects.
Open LUMOplay and go to the Motion Maker section.
Click Create, and name your new effect.
Choose the Particle Image template.
Add your background image (e.g., a skyline, abstract pattern, etc.).
In the Image Particles settings, replace the default LUMOplay logo with your own logo image.
-
Adjust:
Transparency to make your logo stand out.
Particle size and velocity for more or less motion.
Trail effects for extra flair.
💡 Pro tip: The particles automatically take on the colors of your logo, matching your brand’s palette beautifully.
Experiment with particle types like “Nebula” for a cosmic effect or “Stars” for a glittery finish.
🐠 Method 2: Add Your Logo to the “Fish Pond” Effect
Want something more subtle and immersive? The Fish Pond template lets you place your logo underwater, where it interacts with ripples while fish swim beneath it.
Create a new effect using the Fish Pond template.
Add your background image (e.g., an underwater scene).
In the Background tab, choose an underwater foreground mask.
Insert your logo image as part of this mask.
Now your logo appears submerged and affected by water ripples while the fish swim beneath.
It’s a fun, elegant way to make your brand part of the scene without overwhelming the interaction.
🪙 Method 3: Display Your Logo as an “Idle Image”
This method is ideal for subtle branding — your logo appears when no one is interacting with the system, and fades away once someone starts playing.
Create a new effect using the Falling Shapes template.
Add your logo as an overlay idle image.
Turn the alpha (transparency) all the way up so it’s fully visible.
Add your background image.
Customize the shapes — for example, change from falling balls to falling coins to match a money-themed brand like “Proftopia.”
-
Adjust:
Particle size and quantity per second to keep performance smooth.
Colors (gold, silver, etc.) to align with your brand identity.
When users interact, the logo disappears — keeping the experience immersive and uncluttered.
🚀 Publishing Your Custom App
Once your logo effects are ready:
Click Close, then Publish.
Check the ✅ box to upload your new app to your LUMOplay library.
Use it across all your installations!
If you plan to make many custom branded experiences, the Playmaker license is your best option.
If you’re using Playground (nonprofit) license, you can still publish each new app for a small fee.
