Did you download beta.1 or beta.2?  If you downloaded beta.2, please download the beta.1 installer and run that:

On Friday we discovered a bug in beta.2 that is exactly what you describe.  The application will silently fail to launch on some machines (though there will be an APPCRASH notification in the Windows Event log).  After confirming the problem on two Intel Rock Canyon NUCs we have temporarily suspended the roll-out of beta.2

We are investigating the issue and will release an update once we have a solution.

    Glad to hear it!

If you don't mind me asking, what hardware were you running beta.2 on when it failed? We're trying to catalogue what hardware is incompatible with the update.

Just to follow up, we have a pre-release update for beta.2a which seems to fix the issue in our tests here.  If you have a chance, could you please download this update, install it on the machine that previously failed, and let us know if it works on your hardware?  Thanks!

We're going to continue testing this update here, but if all goes well we'll push it to our update server tomorrow morning.

The system I have been testing it on is an Intel NUC i3-7100

I will install the new Beta.2 exe and see what happens.

Beta.2a is installed and works perfectly! I've also tried it on a Microsoft Surface i5-6300 and it works as well.

    Fantastic! Glad to hear it.

Since 2a was a pre-release you'll be seeing an update notification later this morning prompting you to upgrade to beta.3 -- which will be essentially the same build you have now, just with the version number incremented, so everything should continue to work just fine.

beta.3 is now live.  While rolling it out we discovered a bug in beta.2a that causes the update notification window to pop up VERY often. We intended for that to occur at most once per day. Whoops...

When updating from beta.2a, once you start the update once, do NOT click the checkmark on the notification window again.  Doing so will start a second download, which can cause the whole update to fail.  Once the download has started, click on the X when prompted to download the new update subsequent times.

So start downloading the update, go away and leave your computer alone for a while, and when the message box pops up to let you know that the download has finished appears, click the checkmark to apply the update.
