What projector do you recommend?

Because there are so many different makes and models of projector available, we do not offer recommendations for specific units to buy.  The best projector for your installation depends on an array of factors, including:

• How bright is the ambient environment?  Darker environments can use lower-lumen projectors, while brighter locations will need correspondingly brighter projectors
• How far away will you be mounting the projector?  For most home users a short-throw projector is suitable for the floor, but for wall projections or floor installations with very high ceilings anything from an ultra-short to a long throw projector may be the best.
• If you're projecting on the floor, does your projector support being mounted vertically?  Certain projectors, including most old and budget projectors that use bulbs, have poor ventilation when pointed straight down. This can cause permanent damage to the projector.  Consult your vendor or manufacturer to check if your projector can be safely mounted pointing down.  If it cannot be mounted pointing down, consider buying a mirror mount to reflect the projection toward the floor.
